Sarvam Foundation

  

We must learn from our past to understand the present. India has been blessed with a priceless heritage thousands of years old. Why not showcase it in interesting ways? Why not demystify it so that a larger chunk of the masses can enjoy it? Why not give it the attention it truly deserves?

 

And thus was born the idea of this Foundation. Every event has a common thread of promoting something Indian, be it a form of Classical Dance, an indigenous social welfare initiative, arts and crafts or even the modern 'Indie' acts.


Past events have included:


1) TEDxTughlaqRdChange: A TEDxChange event, the event featured an eclectic mix of prominent individuals with something very special to say on 'winds of change.' Speakers: Comedian Papa CJ, Radio Jockey Hit 95FM Saarthak, Classical danseuse Rama Vaidyanathan, Welspun MD Dipali Goenka, LOL method motivational coach Anand Chulani, social enterpreneurs Rustam Sengupta of Boond and Kartik Desai of What's Up Bharat.

2) TWOgether: Two young disciples of the top Gurus of Classical dance in Delhi, performed duets and Jugalbandis for a non-traditional audience. Disciples of Padmashri Madhavi Mudgal, Padmashri Dr. Saroja Vaidyanathan, Padmashri Shovana Narayanan and Guru Jayaprabha Menon.

3) Bharatanatyam Dance Residency: The first Classical dance residency in India, young dancers and non-dancers got a chance to live in the pristine environs of Zorba Buddha for three days with one of India's most prominent Classical dancers Rama Vaidyanathan. An adhanareeshwar ashtakam was taught and studio recorded music provided for the dancers and various body language sessions held for the non-dancers!

4) Zara Hatke: Fringe Carnival and Flea Market by the youth: A first of its kind fringe festival, artistes between the ages of 18-35 showcased ten minute acts using the space of Zorba Buddha creatively amidst flea stalls by the youth selling their wares! There were healers, food stalls and carnival parades too. All this and more on Christmas day , 2012!
